CHIP ART
17th March 2010, 5 – 9pm

London-based artist, VitaliV (a.k.a. Vitali Vinogradov) has created a new body of sculpture addressing his fascination with the microchip, which will be exhibited in the heart of London on 17th March. The exhibition will include ‘lightboxes’, panels and prints. The idea behind Chip Art was derived from the artist’s interest in using the patterns he discovered from within the inside of microchips. With ever-increasing advances in the digital world, the art works are intricately made with familiar patterns and act as a powerful reminder of the role which technology can play in the world today.

Born in Ukraine, VitaliV studied at Saint Petersburg Art Academy before enrolling at Norwich Art School as part of an exchange programme from the Soviet Union in 1989, where he trained in classic sculpture.

VitaliV’s first sculptures were highly influenced by his classical training before he began to make freer forms of interlocking bronze and painted wood. Later he made table tops with clear resin, which were engrained with left-overs from the dinner table, continuing to exist after being sealed in the resin.

VitaliV’s London exhibition CHIP ART will represent the artist’s interpretation of the digital world in sculpture, and his development as an artist.
