The Worshipful Company of
Arbitrators Charitable Trust
Recital – soprano & counter
tenor, piano, organ
St Mary-le-Bow Church, Cheapside,
London EC2V 6AU
6:15 pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012
The fifth annual recital will feature songs performed by Ruth Holton and Nicholas
Mitchell, compositions for piano by Alla Sirenko and St Mary le Bow’s
magnificent new Tickell organ, on which Assistant Michael Gifkins will open
proceedings with the Arbitrators Theme.
The wife and husband duo of Ruth Holton (soprano) and
Nicholas Mitchell (counter tenor) will perform duets and solos, mainly in a
lighter vein, starting with duets by Brahms and Mendelssohn and, after a few
numbers from musicals, ending with the Rossini Cat duet.
On the
piano, one of the Ukraine's leading composers, Alla Sirenko, will present the
world première of music created specially for our concert, in an attractive
tonal style which the composer describes as magic realism.
Assistant
Michael Gifkins will bring the evening to a rousing close with Guilmant's march
on a theme of Handel – Lift up your heads.
The
evening will be followed by a wine reception at about 8:00 pm for all those
attending.
All proceeds from the Recital will be for the benefit of the
Worshipful Company of Arbitrators Charitable Trust, through which the Company
provides educational and welfare support for those in need, such as bursaries
for underprivileged pupils, peacemaker prizes, dispute resolution exam prizes,
the Company’s annual mediation competition, the Lord Mayor’s Charity and the St
Mary-le- Bow Young Homeless Project.
Tickets priced @ £35
